She shines so bright!<br \/>\nI never saw true beauty till this night.<br \/>\nBut Tybalt overheard(\u65e0\u610f\u4e2d\u542c\u5230) him, came up to Old Capulet, and said,<br \/>\n\u201cI recognize that voice\u2014that is a Montague!<br \/>\nHow dare he come here, hidden behind a mask, and try to ruin our celebration?<br \/>\nServant, bring me my sword!<br \/>\nBy my honor, I shall strike him dead!\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI think that is young Romeo, is it not?\u201d asked Old Capulet.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is indeed that villain(\u6076\u68cd), Romeo!\u201d Tybalt replied.<br \/>\n\u201cCousin, please do not get so worked up about it,\u201d Old Capulet replied.<br \/>\n\u201cHe is known all through Verona as a respectable and well-mannered young man.<br \/>\nTo do him any wrong, here in my own house where he is our guest, would bring shame on our family.<br \/>\nSo please, take no notice of him, calm down(\u51b7\u9759), and do not show us such an angry face.<br \/>\nIt does not suit such a happy occasion.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI have every right to be angry, when such an evil(\u90aa\u6076\u7684) man is our guest!\u201d Tybalt replied.<br \/>\n\u201cI cannot bear him!\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI am afraid you will have to,\u201d Old Capulet replied.<br \/>\n\u201cBecause this is my house, and I am the master in it.<br \/>\nI do not want you making trouble with so many of our guests here, and that is the end of it.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cTo let them come into our house without challenging them would bring shame to our family!\u201d said Tybalt.<br \/>\n\u201cYou think you\u2019re so brave, don\u2019t you?<br \/>\nWell, your so-called bravery may come back to bite you one of these days.<br \/>\nBut I have an older and wiser head than yours.<br \/>\nYou dare to defy(\u8fdd\u6297) me in my own house!<br \/>\nPerhaps it\u2019s time I taught you a lesson . . .\u201d<br \/>\nBut here he broke off and spoke reassuringly(\u4ee4\u4eba\u5bbd\u6170\u5730) to some of the other guests, who had heard angry voices raised, \u201cBe merry, my friends!\u201d<br \/>\nAnd to the servants he said, \u201cBring more lights!\u201d<br \/>\nBefore continuing more calmly, \u201cTybalt, be quiet now, or I shall have to force you to be quiet.\u201d<br \/>\nSo Tybalt reluctantly(\u4e0d\u60c5\u613f\u5730) went away, his body trembling(\u98a4\u6296) with the effort of controlling his warring feelings(\u60c5\u7eea).<br \/>\nOn the outside he tried to appear calm, but inwardly(\u5728\u5185\u5fc3) he was planning revenge(\u590d\u4ec7).<br \/>\nBut elsewhere in the room, the mood(\u6c1b\u56f4) was completely different.<br \/>\nRomeo went up to Juliet, took her hand, and said:<br \/>\nRomeo: If I profane(\u4eb5\u6e0e) with my unworthy hand<br \/>\nThis holy place, the penalty(\u5904\u7f5a) is this:<br \/>\nMy lips, two blushing(\u542b\u7f9e\u7684) pilgrims(\u671d\u5723\u8005), ready stand<br \/>\nTo smooth that rough touch with a tender(\u6e29\u67d4\u7684) kiss.<br \/>\nJuliet: Good pilgrim, do not blame your hand too much\u2014<br \/>\nYour kindness and devotion show in this.<br \/>\nFor saints(\u5723\u4eba) have hands that pilgrims\u2019 hands may touch,<br \/>\nAnd hand to hand is holy pilgrims\u2019 kiss.<br \/>\nRomeo: And saints have lips, and holy pilgrims too.<br \/>\nJuliet: Yes, pilgrim, lips that they must use in prayer.<br \/>\nRomeo:\tSaint, may our lips now do what hands may do\u2014<br \/>\nNow touch, and greet; please, save me from despair(\u7edd\u671b)!<br \/>\nJuliet: Saints do not move, though grant(\u51c6\u8bb8) for prayers\u2019 sake(\u770b\u5728&#8230;\u7684\u4efd\u4e0a).<br \/>\nRomeo:\tThen move not, while that tender kiss I take.<br \/>\nAnd so Romeo reached forward and kissed her.<br \/>\n\u201cAnd so, by the action of my lips, my hand\u2019s sin(\u7f6a\u5b7d) is forgiven,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cSay rather that your sin has passed from your lips to mine,\u201d Juliet replied.<br \/>\n\u201cThen give my sin back to me,\u201d Romeo asked, and kissed Juliet again.<br \/>\nAt that moment Juliet\u2019s nurse interrupted them.<br \/>\n\u201cJuliet, your mother would like a word with you,\u201d she said.<br \/>\n\u201cWho is her mother?\u201d asked Romeo.<br \/>\n\u201cDidn\u2019t you know, young man? Her mother is the lady of the house\u2014a wise and kind lady she is, too.<br \/>\nAnd I am nurse to her daughter, with whom you were just talking.<br \/>\nAnd I think that whoever marries her daughter will do very well for himself.\u201d<br \/>\nThen Romeo suddenly realized, \u201cA Capulet! There will be a heavy reckoning(\u7b97\u603b\u8d26) for this.<br \/>\nNow my heart is in the power of my family\u2019s enemies!\u201d<br \/>\nThen Benvolio came to Romeo and said, \u201cWhy don\u2019t we leave now? It\u2019s always best to leave before the fun wears off(\u9010\u6e10\u6d88\u5931).\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cPerhaps you\u2019re right,\u201d said Romeo.<br \/>\n\u201cIn the rest of my life, there may never be a moment as wonderful as this.\u201d<br \/>\nSeeing them about to leave, Old Capulet invited them to stay a little longer:<br \/>\n\u201cDon\u2019t leave soon, gentlemen! We have a few late night treats prepared for you.<br \/>\nOh, must you really go? Then good night, and thank you so much for joining us.\u201d<br \/>\nAs the guests were leaving and Old Capulet was going to bed, tired but happy, Juliet asked her nurse,<br \/>\n\u201cWho was that young gentleman?\u201d\u2014pointing to one of the guests.<br \/>\n\u201cThat is Tiberio\u2019s eldest son.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cAnd that gentleman there?\u201d\u2014pointing to another.<br \/>\n\u201cI think that is young Petruchio.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cAnd how about the young man behind him, just going through the door\u2014the one who would not dance?\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI\u2019m sorry, I don\u2019t know him,\u201d the nurse replied.<br \/>\n\u201cPlease ask his name,\u201d Juliet asked the nurse, thinking to herself.<br \/>\n\u201cIf he is married, what should I do? Kill myself?\u201d<br \/>\nThe nurse soon returned: \u201cHis name is Romeo, and he is a Montague\u2014the only son of your father\u2019s greatest enemy.\u201d<br \/>\nThen Juliet said aloud,<br \/>\nMy only love, sprung from my only hate!<br \/>\nToo early seen unknown, and known too late!<br \/>\nThe strangest birth of love is this for me,<br \/>\nThat I must love a hated enemy!<br \/>\n\u201cWhat did you say?\u201d said the nurse, confused(\u611f\u5230\u56f0\u60d1\u7684).<br \/>\n\u201cOh, it\u2019s nothing,\u201d Juliet replied.<br \/>\n\u201cJust a little rhyme(\u62bc\u97f5\u8bd7) that I learned from one of my dancing partners.\u201d<br \/>\nACT II<br \/>\nScene I.<br \/>\nNo sooner had Romeo, Benvolio, and Mercutio left Old Capulet\u2019s house than Romeo started to feel very uneasy.<br \/>\n\u201cI am going in the wrong direction,\u201d he thought to himself.<br \/>\n\u201cHow can I go away, when my heart is here?\u201d<br \/>\nThey were just outside the high wall that surrounded(\u73af\u7ed5) Old Capulet\u2019s garden.<br \/>\nSo without a word to the others, Romeo suddenly climbed the wall and jumped down on the inside.<br \/>\n\u201cWhere did he go?\u201d asked Benvolio.<br \/>\n\u201cIf he is wise, he must have rushed home to bed,\u201d replied Mercutio.<br \/>\n\u201cI don\u2019t think so\u2014he must have climbed this garden wall. Mercutio, call out to him!\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cI know how to get him to answer me,\u201d said Mercutio to Benvolio, and then loudly.<br \/>\n\u201cRomeo, you moody(\u559c\u6012\u65e0\u5e38\u7684) and passionate(\u5145\u6ee1\u6fc0\u60c5\u7684) lover, what has happened to you? Are you all right?<br \/>\nJust give a lover\u2019s sigh, or try to rhyme(\u4f7f\u62bc\u97f5) \u2018love\u2019 with \u2018dove,\u2019 or talk of Cupid, and I will know that it is really you!<br \/>\nTell me about Cupid, so old and yet so young\u2014that wise god who made King Cophetua fall in love with the beggar girl!\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cNothing. He does not speak; he does not move.
